TELEVISION CAMPAIGNS

I learned my craft shooting in the streets and studios of New York and LA for some of the best directors in the business. Since settling in Nashville, I've focused on work that connects through truthful characters and stories.

I enjoy creative collaboration the most. Ideas that build on each other to create better work than any one of us could have done alone. That's when it's the best.

My background covers acting, editing ( I cut all the spots here), writing, and twenty years as a director of photography. The spots shown are a small portion of the work and styles I have. To see more, or to talk about a project, please get in touch.

The first 3 spots are :15's, which are becoming more popular with clients as media costs increase. All shot with "real people" along with a fourth spot in two days. Nervous at first, we got them loosened up (don't ask how) and they had a great time.

"Annie" is one of my favorite spots. Working with the creatives at the anoroc agency, we were aiming at the health care choosers, and I helped develop an idea with them that spoke of family connection in an emotionally touching story. Winner of a Bronze Telly, the client still runs the spot.

"Outreach" -- working with UT's marketing department, we developed a story that went to the heart of their community program: the connection made between their teaching students and the children whose lives they touched. All real people and a Silver Telly winner.

"Columbia ER" was FUN! A day of shooting clocks using every lighting gag and rig I could think of, all cut together beautifully by the creatives at The Buntin Group.

I fell back on some of my previous acting experience to direct the wall-to-wall dialog in "Hiding Place". It is one of three spots we shot that day, all full dialog, shot in a tiny stage in Charlotte. We built the sets like those Russian dolls, each inside the next. So when we finished one spot, we tore down that set and began lighting the next. When there were no sets left we knew it was time to go home.

Goody's wanted to let people know what they were giving back to the community and gave us a free hand. Shot in some of Knoxville's older neighborhoods, I love the feel of this spot, and working with the kids was a sweet experience. This and its sister spot won Bronze Tellies.
